Four Legged Scholars LLC – Streetsboro – Dog Training and Surrounding Areas
Are you struggling with a dog that jumps too much? Is this jumping behavior causing you stress? You are not alone and we can definitely help.
Recently, jumping has been the most common issue that families have been complaining about. We helped Frankie, a Labradoodle, which you have already read about it.
Now we are helping Autumn, a Labrador and Shadow, a Husky. Both of these dogs are extra jumpy. Frankie and Autumn live in Garrettsville.
Shadow lives in Streetsboro. Dog training with Shadow, the Husky, and his Streetsboro family is what this post is about.
With Shadow the main issue is with, Max, the owner’s 8 year old son. He feels sad because his puppy is jumping all of the time! I stepped in because I want this family to feel more peace and happiness in their Streetsboro home.
We began by having Shadow on leash. One of the owner’s, held the leash, while the son approached Shadow. If Shadow sat when Max approached, Max gave him a c/t (click and treat).
If Shadow jumped, he would walk away. The leash held Autumn in place so that he was not able to follow Max as he walked away.
Because Autumn wants Max’s attention, he stopped jumping. He realized he got more attention for sitting. As a result, he behavior became much more calm.
We ended the session with Max running around the room and doing numerous kid actions while he gave Shadow a c/t when he was calm and not jumping.
This is a simple exercise that many dog owners can practice in Streetsboro. Dog training takes time so remember to be consistent and persistent.
By our second session, Shadow was much more settled. Max was able to move around and Shadow was choosing to sit or down instead of jumping.
This week Max is going to work on more excitable actions and reward Shadow for being calm.
Shadow will also be off leash at times as he is learning to be more settled as Max moves around the house. I am excited to see this progress next week.
If you live near Streetsboro, dog training is something we can offer you. Of course there are other dog trainers as well.
