Are you stressing that you cannot get your dog to listen to you? We understand and we can help! I want to share a big secret with you so that your dog listens to you.
Many times when I am working with (Nelson) dog training, I notice that owners are constantly stressing about time. They want their dog to listen to them now.
The desire is so intense that if their dog doesn’t listen to them immediately, they are actually late for work, taking their child to school, etc. So instead of having their dog perform a command when they are in a rush, they just make their dog do the behavior (grab their dog by the collar, push their dog into his crate, etc.)
Here is a typical example of an owner struggling with (Nelson) dog training. The owner is getting ready for work and is rushing around the house. He looks at the clock and realizes that he has to leave in about 2 minutes. His dog is a puppy and still chews on things in the house.
He knows that his puppy needs to be in his crate before he leaves for work. As a result, he asks his puppy to go into his crate, when his puppy doesn’t listen, he gets frustrated because he doesn’t want to be late for work.
As a result, he picks up his puppy and puts him in his crate and then rushes off to work. Typically scenario? Yes. Did the puppy learn anything here? Nothing productive. He did learn however, that if hears the word crate, he may get picked up in an uninviting manner and be forced to go into his crate.
Then he is immediately left alone. As a result, the puppy may actually begin to dislike the word “crate”.
What about a different scenario? The owner decides that he wants to invest time in (Nelson) dog training. As a result, he realizes that his puppy doesn’t like the crate and doesn’t go into the crate easily.
As soon, as the owner wakes up he spends about 2-5 minutes training his puppy to go into his crate on command. He then lets his puppy out of his crate. He gets ready for work while interacting with his puppy, and they both feel peaceful.
The owner is not rushed. He has left plenty of extra time to interact with his puppy while getting ready for work. After he has done getting ready for work, he looks at the time. He realizes he has 15 minutes before he actually needs to leave for work.
He begins to train his puppy to go into his crate on command. He takes his time and spends time doing (Nelson) dog training. By the time 15 min has past his puppy is in the crate, has followed the command and has learned something productive.
So what is this big training secret? You guessed right! Leave plenty of extra time during transitions to train your puppy or dog. Instead of stressing about time or stressing about being late, you will realize you have enough time to breath, focus and train your dog.
If you live in Nelson, dog training is definitely something that we can help you with because we serve Nelson and surrounding areas.
