Four Legged Scholars LLC – Streetsboro – Puppy Training
Jim and Amanda came to us with a cute four month old Husky puppy, Shadow, that was extremely hyper. Jim felt bad because Shadow listened well to him and was not listening at all to his girlfriend, Amanda or her son Max.
Amanda was feeling very overwhelmed and Max felt very unhappy. Shadow would run to Max jump on him, bump into him and play bit him. His puppy teeth were not gentle and Max was not enjoying having a puppy in the house.
As a result, Amanda and Jim purchased four training sessions with us. We immediately began addressing these issues in their home in Streetsboro. Puppy training progress was fast with them because they did their homework and were very determined to create more peace in their home.
We began with teaching Shadow to settle when Max entered the house after school in the evening. Shadow loved to attack Max in a playful manner at this time.
By teaching Shadow to sit or down and not go after Max, the family felt more peace when entering their home after a busy day. Shadow was able to be off leash and around Max and be calm.
The play bitting also was addressed and decrease quickly in a significant manner. They learned how to take away attention for bites that hurt, how to keep him more settled during play and how to pet him in ways that would help him stay more relaxed.
After one session with them, the biting and the jumping had decreased significantly. Jim stated that the change was so huge that it was like night and day from the first session to the last session.
By session two, Shadow was listening to Amanda. Amanda was able to get Shadow to sit and wait as she opened the door to let guests in the house.
In fact, when they have visitors over, Shadow can hold a sit stay while the visitors enters their home in Streetsboro. Puppy training made a huge difference in their lives.
In the following sessions, we worked on getting Shadow to come, stay, leave it, drop, and to stop jumping on the counter. All of their issues were addressed, and they felt very pleased with their progress. They rated us as a 10 on a scale from 1-10 with 10 being the highest rating.
The owners do still feel that they need to do more work with Shadow in their home in Streetsboro. Puppy training is something that takes much consistency and persistence. This is an important lesson that the entire family learned. They now know how to set up training to be successful and they feel very empowered.
With Shadow only being a puppy that is now about 5 months old, they made a huge amount of progress. The family now knows the basic training tools that will last Shadow’s entire life and bring ultimate peace and happiness in this home.
