Four Legged Scholars LLC – Dog Training – Garrettsville
Do you have a dog that stresses you because he bolts out the door? We have had many Garrettsville dog training clients that have experienced this problem so you are not alone.
Currently, we are working with a beagle, named Max that bolts out the doors. With his intense nose the owners can lose him quickly.
As a result, we started training wait at the door with our dog training. Garrettsville is where Max lives.
We started with the crate. Max had to wait at his crate door to get let out. As we opened the door, we shut it if he inched forward.
If he waited, the crate door got opened farther. He also got a c/t if he waited as the door was opened a crack.
We began to open the door farther and farther as he waited more consistently. He did it and got let out!
Because Max didn’t know sit we trained that first. Then we progressed to wait at the back door. During our dog training (Garrettsville), we asked Max to sit and wait. We did the same process with the back door.
However, we also had Max on leash so that he didn’t have a chance to run off. He picked up on this quickly and began waiting at this door as well.
In order for Max to do this every time, the owners will need to work on this process daily. He won’t consistently do the behavior right away until the process has been repeated many times.
