Four Legged Scholars LLC – Obedience – Garrettsville
Tracie called us, and her message was urgent.
She just moved to a new house, and her dog was peeing and pooping in their new house after the move. She felted stressed and wanted this behavior to stop.
As a result, we came to her house to help her create more obedience. Garrettsville is where they moved too.
They had just moved from Nelson. Dog training hadn’t been done in Nelson but the accidents weren’t a huge problem in the old house.
She mentioned at the new house Dobby, her Shihpoo (Shih Tuz / Poodle) was so distracted when she took him outside that he wanted to smell and didn’t want to go potty right away.
We knew exactly what to do to get Dobby to potty outside. As a result, Tracie purchased the Dependable House Dog Program which consisted of three obedience sessions and one follow-up session.
Tracie learned to get Dobby on a more consistent schedule with feeding to help regulate his bowl movements better. She also learned about management.
Dobby had numerous accidents in the basement and her poor basement smelled of urine. She cleaned up the basement and blocked it off.
This prevented Dobby from having further accidents in the basement. We also had her supervised Dobby and had her let him out frequently. When he pottied outside he received a c/t (click and treat).
Dobby’s accidents were zero after the first week of training. In three weeks after doing training he got so obedient. Garrettsville owner, Tracie felt so much relief.
Dobby had only 2 days accidents since we began training. Through the knowledge we gave her, Tracie realized why the accidents occured and was able to make changes to prevent them from continuing.
Pretty soon Dobby will be free ranged in the house with no accidents and no supervision.
Tracie was also annoyed by how Dobby jumped on people, tormented her cats and did not come when called. We worked with Dobby to help with these issues.
Dobby began sitting much faster upon my arrival instead of jumping. He also listened to target and stay around the cats.
Come will take practice as Dobby isn’t as motivated to come to his owner as some dogs. However, he is beginning to come better and Tracie knows the steps to continue moving forward with this command as well.
We are so happy to have helped Tracie and Dobby with obedience. Garrettsville is a happier place for Tracie now.
