7 Fun Places to Hike or Play with Your Dog – Dog Training – Kent, Ohio

Four Legged Scholars LLC, Dog Training, Kent, Ohio 801-463-1668

Are you stressed because your dog isn’t getting enough exercise? We understand that Ohio has many on leash laws when taking your dog away from home. However, there are some fun places where you can take your dog, and they can get adequate exercise.

It is important to teach your dog to listen to you while you exercise him. Make sure you practice dog training. Kent, Ohio and surrounding areas is where we serve if you need help in training your dog.

7 Fun Places to Hike, Play, and Train Your Dog (Northeast, Ohio)

1.) If you live near Garrettsville, the Hiram College Field Station is awesome. As a child, I hiked here often with my border collie and Shetland Sheep dogs. We had a blast. I also remember practicing tons of obedience training. Hiram, Ohio has a low population so you can hike and train without many dog and people distractions.

I actually went for a walk here this morning. It was gorgeous as the leaves were turning so many colors. The paths are numerous so you can hike for hours. They are also labeled so it is hard to get lost. You are spaced away from traffic and can enjoy nature with your dog.

2.) Dukes K9 Dash N’ Splash is a great place to exercise your dog in the water. Here you can practice dock diving with your dog. There is a jumping dock, a ramp and even life preservers for your dog. It is set up so you can privately rent the place for just you and your dog.

It is located in Mantua, Ohio. Dog training isn’t taught here but if you know some basics you can make some headway. I went here with my best friend Amber Duderstadt who grew up in Nelson. Dog training was a bit of challenge with her cute Australian Shepherd, Buckley.

However, we did make some progress when we found out that he was motivated by his frisbee. Buckley was exhausted afterwards 🙂

3.) Recently we got a new Kent, Ohio dog training client. They told us about a dog park that is near them called Brimfield Memorial Dog Park. They mentioned that it is often vacant. I can only imagine the amount of off-leash dog training that we could do here since there are minimal dog distractions. What a great place to train obedience with your dog.

4.) Check out Tails ‘N Trail Dog Park if you live near Aurora, Ohio. Dog training is our main focus as a business owner so we want to remind you again the importance of training your dog while you exercise him. We haven’t been to this park but are imagining that since it is in Aurora that it is probably nicely kept.

5.) There is even a dog park in Twinsburg, Ohio. Again we haven’t gone here either but it is a great place to check out. We hope that you find that most of the dogs are obedient. Twinsburg, Ohio is in our training area so we are happy to help if more obedience is needed with your dog or your friends’ dogs.

6.) Stow is a great area and also has a dog park called Bow Wow Beach. I have not heard good things about this place from a fellow dog trainer. Stow is where she lives. She said that many people don’t clean up after their dogs here.

However, you may want to check it out. If you go during low populated times and your dog is fully vaccinated it might not be so bad.

Leptospirosis is a common disease that can be spread in the water. Make sure your dog is up to date on this vaccination if you go to the dog park in Stow.

7.) I also found a list of some awesome dog parks near the Cleveland area. Most of them are about an hour away from my home in Garrettsville, Ohio so I haven’t checked them out. We are happy to serve dog families in Cleveland, Ohio. Dog training is important to us so we serve much of Northeastern Ohio.

Now go have fun with your dog with the above places. As a professional Kent, Ohio dog trainer we want to make sure you exercise your dog in the proper manner.

While your dog is playing it is best if you ask him to perform obedience commands frequently or periodically. Some great commands to focus on: come, leave it, stay, loose leash walking, sit and down.

We Want to Hear About Your Dog.
