Four Legged Scholars LLC – Atwater – Dog Training and Surrounding Areas
Are you struggling with a barking dog? We understand, and we can help.
This past week we met at the Garrettsville Village to help a client that lives in Atwater. Dog training was a huge success.
We worked on getting her dog, Cooper, to listen with distractions. Her dog normally barks on leash walks around other dogs. As a result, he doesn’t listen to any commands when he is around other dogs.
Our first step is to get him to listen to commands around distractions that are less intense.
Cooper, a german shepherd gets easily distracted by his ball. We worked on getting him to do LAT, target, sit stay, and gentle (taking treats gently from the owner’s hand).
We actually got to the point where Cooper could listen to all of these commands with the ball bouncing 1-2 away from him. This was huge progress. Of course he wasn’t listening 100% of the time.
At some point, he will listen pretty close to 100%. The owner is going to work hard on her homework. She is getting cows this week and lives on a farm in Atwater. Dog training will be a bit of a challenge this with this new distraction.
However, the more distractions Cooper works with the easy it will be when we start to work with him around dogs.
