Four Legged Scholars LLC – Shalersville – Dog Training and Surrounding Areas
Does your dog run away from you instead of running to you? We know how frustrating this can be especially if you really need to catch your dog immediately.
Let’s help you have peace of mind, and teach your dog to come to you.
Right now we are working with two Spaniels on getting them to come more readily to their owners when they are distracted and off-leash in their country backyard.
The owners live in Shalersville. Dog training began with getting the dogs to come reliably in the house with no distractions. Then, to come in the house with distractions.
Next, to come in the yard on a long line when not distracted. Lastly, to come in the yard with distractions.
Start by finding a prompt to get your to dog to come to you. Here are some options that I have used during dog training. Shalersville owners will benefit in knowing that there is NOT just one way to train come.
1.) Shaking a treat bag.
2.) Running away from your dog.
3.) Making exciting noises such as clapping, kissing noises, whistling, etc.
4.) Blowing a dog whistle.
5.) Squeaking a toy.
Your dog doesn’t know the word “come” or you wouldn’t be reading this article. So in order for this word to start having meaning to your dog, you will need to have something that will entice your dog to come you.
Once you have that enticement, you will say “come” and then use your enticement. Eventually, you will stop using the enticement or gradually fade out it’s usage until you dog comes to you on command.
Of course, remember to reward your dog with a really special treat for coming to you every time you call him / her.
Yahoo! You got this. Remember to be consistent with your dog training. Shalersville residents will be impressed by how well your dog comes to you now.
