Are you feeling frustrated that your dog runs off with the ball when you are playing fetch? Are you annoyed that you cannot get the ball back from your dog?
There are many simple and easy ways to get your dog to “drop” the ball during a game of fetch. Of course it does begin with dog training. Northeast Ohio doesn’t have many off leash areas to play fetch with your dog, but you can do this in your yard or even up and down your stairs in your home.
Having two balls is an easy way to get your dog to drop the ball. Trade off with the other ball when your dog approaches you. Once he drops the previous ball, then you can throw the next ball.
You can also do the same technique by exchanging the ball for a treat. Sometimes when you are using food, your dog may loose interest in fetch.
We want you to make sure you have had the help that you need. Please contact us if you need help with your dog training. Northeast Ohio is where we are taking clients.
The above video was shot at the Portage County Dog Warden where I volunteer and do dog training.
