Four Legged Scholars LLC – Ravenna – Dog Training and Surrounding Areas
Do you feel uncomfortable because your dog growls when you touch his toys or when you are near his toys? We understand, and we can help.
We know that you want your dog to give up his toys to you peacefully.
First we want to make sure that avoid a few things if this growling behavior is occurring.
1.) Do not yell at your dog or hit your dog. Any physical contact or threat could make your dog feel more uncomfortable.
Training your dog through punishment can make the issue worse. Ravenna dog training owners will find better results through positivity.
2.) Do not yank the toy away from your dog. He may choose to get more upset and then bite you.
3.) Do not leave toys constantly around the house for your dog to growl around. Instead leave the toys up and away. Bring them out for supervision only.
Here is what is best to do.
1.)We highly recommend that you work with a professional dog trainer. Four Legged Scholars LLC, Ravenna, Dog Training is happy to help you.
2.) Be positive around your dog and help him learn that you aren’t going to steal anything away from him. Teach him to “drop” his toys on command. Here is a good video on teaching drop.
3.) Teaching your dog to leave it in a positive fashion can also help.
4.) It will work best if you teach your dog to do an alternate behavior (drop or leave it). Eventually, your dog will learn that “good” things will happen when he gives-up his toy.
