Four Legged Scholars LLC – Dog Obedience – Burton and Surrounding Areas
Are you feeling overwhelmed that your dog isn’t getting enough exercise? You are not alone, and we are here to help you.
Your kids might have been an extra help with exercising your dog while you were working etc. Now they are in school.
When they come home they have homework to do. You are left to exercise the dog yourself. You can’t keep up with the kids, work, your relationship, and your dog.
Here are some quick tips to get your dog exercised regularly and easily.
1.) Create a chore list. Each day one person in your household has to spend at least 20 minutes with your dog.
They can do one of the activities below or be creative in figuring out another stimulating activity.
2.) Teach your dog to “go find it.” Then put your dog in a separate room. Close the door and hide treats.
Your dog will use tons of mental energy having to search for the treats. When he is tired he will be more likely to be obedient. Burton families will be more relaxed.
3.) Stop feeding your dog in his food bowl. Make him work for their food. Dogs are scavengers, so they will love this! Here are some options:
a.) Throw the food in your yard or around a room in the house. I call this a kibble toss.
b.) Put your dog’s food in a food oriented toy such as a Buster Cube.
c.) Save your dogs meal in a ziplock bag. Carrying it with you during the day or evening. Periodically between tasks, ask your dog to perform a command before he gets to eat a piece of kibble.
Watch how easy it can be practice dog obedience. Burton families will find even sessions lasting 2 minutes make a huge difference in your dog’s stress level.
d.) Spend 5-10 minutes to train him something new using his kibble as a reward.
4.) Call your dog back a forth between two or more people. This can be a great family activity together.
It also a great way to practice dog obedience. Burton families are always happier when their dogs come reliably.
5.) Throw a ball up or down the stairs and have your dog fetch it.
6.) Have your dog wear a weighted backpack when you walk him. He will use more energy this way.
Talk to your vet first to ensure the amount of weight that your dog can carry. Start light at first.
We hope these tips help so that dog obedience (Burton) can be easier in your house.
When your dog is exercised he is much more obedient. Burton is a location we serve. So if you need help, please let us know.
