Four Legged Scholars LLC – Dog Training – Streetsboro and Surrounding Areas
Are you struggling with getting your dog to “come”? We know how stressful this can be. Let’s get your dog to come now.
Currently, we are working with a family that has four Rottweilers. When the dogs are outside in their fenced yard they don’t come into the house when they are called.
This family decided to work with us. We are doing eight sessions focusing on dog training. Streetsboro is where they live.
During our last session, we determined a quick and easy way to train come. There are many methods and some may take sometime. This one is fast.
Does your dog get excited when you shake a container full treats? Does he come come running when you shake the treat container?
If you answered yes to these questions. The method below will be a quick way to get your dog to “come” on command.
We let the Rottweilers outside. When we were ready for them to come back inside, I had the owner say “come” and shake the container full of treats.
This might seem silly to you because it doesn’t appear to involve any dog training. Streetsboro owners need to learn about classical conditioning.
This means the dog associates treats with the noise of the shaking treats. Because of this, they come running. We were doing classical conditioning.
We are associating the word “come” with the shaking of treats. What do you think will happen overtime? The word come eventually be just as powerful as shaking the treat container.
After you make this correlation (say “come” and shake the treats) for a period of one to two weeks. Say the word “come” and pause 1-2 sec before you shake the treats.
If they come running to you then you can start calling them without shaking the treat container and just say “come”.
If not, say come and gradually shake the treat container softer and softer until your dog responds to “come” without shaking the treats.
Make sure you are giving your dog yummy treats every time he comes to you so that he begins to associate the word “come” with getting treats and not just hearing the shake of a treat container.
I am excited to return after the owner has done a week of dog training. Streetsboro will be a different place and I bet these Rottweilers will be “coming” great now!
