Four Legged Scholars LLC – West Farmington – Dog Training and Surrounding Areas
Do you struggle with a dog that doesn’t listen? Susan called us about her cute Pit Bull, Petey, who is eleven months old.
Petey loves to jump and bark for attention. So we wanted to help Susan to get Petey to listen and be calm.
First, it is important that training is an all day exercise in West Farmington. Dog training does not exist at a certain time every time. Your dog is constantly learning.
As a result, you want to make sure you are rewarding good behavior ALL day.
Susan was asked to wear her treat bag with treats in it all day. Every time Petey jumps or barks for attention from her, she has to turn her back.
Then she gives a c/t (click and treat) when Petey chooses to be sit and be quiet.
If she chooses to train only some of the day this quiet and calm behavior won’t be learned. So our biggest tip today is to remember to train all of the time.
Remember your dog won’t actively being doing things all day.
You just want to be on guard in West Farmington. Dog training needs to be done to reinforce any good behavior that your dog is doing and you need to redirect or ignore any bad behavior.
If the bad behavior is to get your attention, ignoring it works well!
Make it simple. In general, you will only be training your dog for 5-10 min intermittently throughout the day while you are at home.
We also can help you in West Farmington. Dog training can easily be done in your home with us.
