Four Legged Scholars LLC – Dog School – Burton and Surrounding Areas
Are you angered by a previous trainer that you worked with who gave you no results? We understand this pain.
Unfortunately, you are not alone. Many people have worked with a past trainer, spent tons of money, and still have a dog that doesn’t listen.
The even less fortunate have even more behavioral problems with their dog now since working with this trainer.
You don’t have to deal with this pain alone. We completely understand and we are here to help you get the results you want.
Who are these trainers that work with your dog and leave you hanging with no results or leave you with even more problems?
Most of these trainers have good intentions. They just lack formal education on dog training and dog psychology.
They think dog training is fun and get some results doing it. In fact, they have many happy clients.
It can be difficult choosing a trainer because there are so many different dog schools. Burton doesn’t have many options. However, the Cleveland and Akron area does.
What type of formal education is needed when looking for a dog trainer that will help you get results?
A bachelors degree in psychology or animal behavior is a HUGE start.
In psychology / behavior you learn how animals learn, what are the most effective training methods, scientific terminology, how to apply these techniques and why they work.
Good trainers also attend numerous dog training seminars and focus on reward-based dog trainers.
These are the trainers they follow: Victoria Stillwel, Ian Dunbar, Trish King, Karen Pryor, Susan Sternberg, Jane Donaldson, Pat Miller, Patricia McConnell.
They stay away from Cesar Millan and other punishment based trainers.
We personally understand the importance of human dog school. Burton doesn’t have many dog training seminars for us to attend.
However, Akron does. So at least once a year we go to another reward-based dog training seminar to learn about the newest methods that actually work.
These good trainers are usually certified. Certified Pet Dog Trainers advocate methods that are proven to work through science.
Anyone can be a trainer so certification is important. Imagine someone waking up with no education wanting to be a trainer and wanting to help you with your dog.
This could be you. Be educated about what to look for.
Stay away from trainers and dog schools in Burton that use punishment and guarantee quick results.
Results require reward-based training, commitment, and time. Results can be slow in the beginning as both the owner and the dog have to learn new behaviors and habits.
Four Legged Scholars LLC, Dog School, Burton uses top notch methods in training that actually work and are recommended by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior.
